The Perfect Mother's Day Request

This Mother's Day, even though the focus is on we moms, in the end, it's because of our children that we have this special day.  Thoughtful gifts from our kids or husbands are always a sweet treat (and happily accepted!) but really, in the end, what more could we want from our children but that they grow up healthy, happy and into respectable and successful adults?  

This letter has been circulating Facebook and we found it only appropriate to share.  Let's just hope that our kids follow the advice!

What I Want for Mother’s Day

Dear Children,

Mother’s Day is coming up, and I thought I should tell you what I want. This way there’s no guilty panic or last minute purchasing of flowers at the closest gas station. So, this is what I want, this year and every year after; it’s really pretty simple.

I want you to be a decent human being.

I want you to be who you are, but don’t be a jerk.

I want you to work hard at everything you do, because life is too short not to give it everything you've got.

I want you to ask for help when you need it.

I want you to help others when they need it.

I want you to learn how to cook, do your own laundry, pay your bills and know how to clean a bathroom.

When you screw up, and you will, more than once, I want you to own it, because it’s the screw-ups that make the victories sweeter.

I want you to travel, because the world is huge and you are one part of it.

I want you to know that even when we hate each other, I will never stop loving you.

I want you to play nicely with others.

I want you to feed your curiosity.

I want you to find a way to do what you love, and realize that that might look different than what you originally thought.

I want you to respect every human being’s right to be who they are.

I want you to sometimes be more interested in someone else other than in yourself.

I want you to know that you are flawed and you are extraordinary. There is no one else like you.

I want you to know that I would lay down my life for you any day of the week.

I want you to realize how lucky you are every once in awhile even if only for an instant.

I want you to know love, even if it means getting hurt.

I want you to relax and not feel guilty about it.

I want you to know life can be brutally hard sometimes.

I want you to know that you can choose happiness even when the dark side offers you cookies.

And I wouldn't mind breakfast in bed.

DE VRIES - Vintage shoes for stylish children

Do you miss this kind of shoes? The ones we used to wear in our childhood? 

Old style, time- and play-resistant, perfect with every outfit and comfortable? I do miss them a lot and I discovered my child (and all the children at MyChildWorld)can have them thanks to De Vries.

We, from Mychildworld, are starting soon to visit the best trade shows worldwide for children, in order to find the best brands for moms and children. One of the biggest trade shows is Playtime Paris with more than 400 brands for children's clothing, accessories, toys and furniture. Checking on these brands we discovered Yporquè and we immediately decided: this is a must have!

How can children (and moms) not fall in love with these amazing t-shirts, comfortable and stylish to wear but especially perfect to play pretend with friends, anytime! Change yourself in a superhero with cape, in a bat with wings, in a man with mustaches or in a ninja. Or you can play guitar (for real: these are t-shirts with sound!) or listen to your bike roar!

New furniture for your child's room - Baby & Child

Lately me and my girlfriends seem to have all the same plan: change the furniture in our children's rooms. Some of us has a girl, some other a boy, some two or more children. So yesterday we sat down around a tea table confronting our discoveries and I fell in love with this brand: Baby&Child - Restoration Hardware

They have everything moms and children are dreaming of! Nurseries, bedroom and playroom: ask for an item, a color, a material, a style - they have it! From toddlers to teenagers you can find furniture, bedding, decorations, accessories,  lighting, rugs and much more (like bath items).

But there is a flaw: they don't have shops in Europe and don't deliver to European countries! So dear people of Baby & Child, I am writing you on behalf of all future customers of MYCHILDWORLD: open a chain in Europe and make every European mom and child free to assault your shops and buy all these lovely items!

Paloma's nest: handmade love for children and parents

I discovered Paloma's nest through Twitter (@palomasnest) and I immediately fell in love with their products! All their products are handmade and they have several collections: wedding, children and holidays. 

Let's focus on the Children Collection.

My favourite item is the children's neighbourhood chair which comes in three different versions: colonial, victorian and modern but each of them is genius! A chair which can be used: as chair (sic), as doll's/toys's house and as table. Perfect for reading, playing, having a snack. It is entirely handcrafted of eco-friendly, non-toxic birch plywood as the product below.

And what about this set of table and chairs? The Menagerie Collection is a entire jungle full of adventure! A tree table and giraffes and elephants as chairs. All edges are rounded smooth and joints are secured with wooden biscuits. Each item is sold separately.

In the Child Collection you can find incredibly cute ornaments like this customised baby keepsake bowl. It is stamped with baby's name and birthday. Handmade of white clay with a matte finish.
