Paloma's nest: handmade love for children and parents

I discovered Paloma's nest through Twitter (@palomasnest) and I immediately fell in love with their products! All their products are handmade and they have several collections: wedding, children and holidays.

Let's focus on the Children Collection.

My favourite item is the children's neighbourhood chair which comes in three different versions: colonial, victorian and modern but each of them is genius! A chair which can be used: as chair (sic), as doll's/toys's house and as table. Perfect for reading, playing, having a snack. It is entirely handcrafted of eco-friendly, non-toxic birch plywood as the product below.

And what about this set of table and chairs? The Menagerie Collection is a entire jungle full of adventure! A tree table and giraffes and elephants as chairs. All edges are rounded smooth and joints are secured with wooden biscuits. Each item is sold separately.

In the Child Collection you can find incredibly cute ornaments like this customised baby keepsake bowl. It is stamped with baby's name and birthday. Handmade of white clay with a matte finish.

For the rest of this collection and of the others check on their website or on their Etsy shop.

They sell and ship worldwide (so if you order now, you are going to have the most amazing Christmas gifts this year!) and I hope they will be soon part of the sellers on our social shopping platform for mums and children.

Intelligent apps for kids

Our kids are more and more technologic  and iPad and iPhone are easily part of their toys.
For us parents, they often become lifelines for their entertainment in particular occasions like long queues at the pediatrician, never-ending  journeys by car and so on.
Looking for intelligent applications we have found a nice collection of interactive e-books you can install for free from your Apple store: classics like "Cinderella - Fairytale dress up" or "Jack and the beanstalk" or new ones for the festivities to come like the Friendly Christmas.

Can't wait for Halloween!!!!

Sleeping bags for children: help!

My child doesn't get along very well with bed covers!

I mean, she sleeps on a side of the bed and the covers lay on the opposite one. I stand up in the night to cover her up because she sneezes. Obviously, during her night dance-sessions, her pajama moved up to her neck and her belly is naked and cold.

So, while not sleeping, worrying that she gets sick, I had a brilliant idea (I thought, at least): a sleeping bag.

And then I started looking on the internet and I realized it wasn't such a good idea. Do you know why? Because sleeping bags are for babies. Max age 2 years. I could have a second child just to buy this lovely sleeping bag from Smallable (pic 1) but actually my child is 5!

But I didn't give up and I searched in e-shops specialized with outdoor items. Disaster! Do you have a clue how ugly camping sleeping bags are? They are really not the kind of stuff a 5 years old girl falls in love with.

But then I discovered that they look so awful just in Italy because actually in the UK and in America there are tons of lovely camping bags for girls and boys (like in this website, or in picture 2 and picture 3). The only problem is, they don't deliver outside their own countries.

So, here I am, still looking for a nice sleeping bag for my girl in Italy or in Europe. Any suggestion?

Fall fashion - Il gufo

Fall is here and I can't wait to go out with my little girl and buy her this fur vest and these grey dresses by Il Gufo. If I had a boy I would buy immediately this brown coat: so charming!
Il Gufo is an Italian brand for children and I love their philosophy "Chidren dressed as children". The quality is amazing and the style unique.
You can buy their clothes online or in the best children boutiques worldwide.
I will post a picture soon of Rebecca wearing the vest. If I could only find one for me as well...

My favorite photographer for children - Jen Altman

Did I discover her with this picture?

Or was it maybe this one?

I don't remember actually but I know that I am totally in love with the children's pics of Jen Altman.
I contacted her to take pictures of my daughter almost two years ago but it was a long trip from America to Italy so at the time I, sadly, gave up.

But I faithfully follow her here and here and keep on thinking that, at some point in the future, she will capture my child's smile, light and soul. Her pictures have that kind of magic that crystallizes the moment.
Is it the light, the colors, the shade? I don't know but I know my little Rebecca is going to be in her pictures somewhen soon.
